Having adopted a form of government, the Americans had to make it work. This course examines their efforts to do so, as the Republic took shape amidst foreign dangers, political conflict, westward expansion and religious revivals.
Instructors: Todd Estes is Associate Professor of History at Oakland University, and is the author of The Jay Treaty Debate, Public Opinion, and the Evolution of Early American Political Culture. Jeremy Bailey is Assistant Professor of Political Science at University of Houston, and is the author of Thomas Jefferson and Executive Power.
