Colonial America

This course focuses on the development of an indigenous political culture in the British colonies. It pays special attention to the development of representative political institutions and how these emerged through the confrontation between colonists and King and proprietors.

Instructors: David Tucker is Associate Professor of Defense Analysis in the Naval Postgraduate School. He has published on Thomas Jefferson, John Quincy Adams, and is the co-author of United States Special Operations Forces. Todd Estes is Associate Professor of History at Oakland University, and is the author of The Jay Treaty Debate, Public Opinion, and the Evolution of Early American Political Culture.
